However, it is worth considering a more personal approach – and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Some of the best wedding decoration ideas are actually cheap wedding decorations that are nonetheless both beautiful and meaningful.
Handmade wedding decorations
The mother of the bride or the groom will often jump at the chance of helping to create wedding decorations. Handmade decorations are personal, full of meaning and often very beautiful indeed.
Themes for wedding decoration ideas
The challenge is – just how creative and original can you be when choosing your wedding decoration ideas? Hearts and flowers are obvious choices, but why not brainstorm some slightly different ideas and see what you can come up with? After all, you can always fall back on asking the professional caterers to come up with a traditional solution if things don’t work out!
Some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
- Incorporating nature. Not just flowers, how about considering other natural ”ingredients“ for your decorations? Leaves, natural raffia, barks, shells, stones – these can all spawn creative ideas, especially if you source them from somewhere close to your heart.
- What about using handpicked stones for painting table numbers on – stones from the river where you proposed to your fiancée, or enjoyed a special romantic picnic? Or shells collected on a special holiday you enjoyed together?
- For a winter wedding, incorporating fairy lights into the wedding decorations can give a lovely, warm, Christmassy feeling to the event.
- Beautiful, unusually shaped glass vases are wonderful for the basis for table decorations. You can combine them with floating flowers and / or candles for a stunning effect.
- Bonsai trees can be used as unusual centerpieces. They are sure to impress, and they make a nice an interesting change from the more traditional flower arrangements.
- Balloons are no longer just garish kids’ party decorations. You can buy beautiful and unusual balloon arrangements that everyone will love.
Keep it personal
The most important thing you should keep in mind when organizing your wedding decorations is that everything should be as personal as possible. Cheap wedding decorations which mean something to the bride and groom and to their family and friends are the ones that are remembered for years to come, while expensive professional decorations that are bland or impersonal are soon forgotten.
The most important thing to remember when it comes to your wedding decorations is, it has to be "you." The most expensive decorations will not make your guests feel at home if it is totally alien to your personality. Keep your guest in mind as well and do not decide on wedding decorations that may present a problem to your guests.
Enjoy your wedding decorating!
