Spring Decorations

Hi Everyone,

Here are a few ideas on spring decorations for your home. Spring is such a lovely time of the year, carry that new freshness into your home.

Home decorating for spring

Spring is a time to start out new. You will find that during spring people across the country begin shaking off the dregs of winter, they start opening their windows, and they begin to hang their clothes on the lines to dry again. It is the time for the traditional “spring cleaning” but why not decorating? In fact there are very few times of year when it is more appropriate to decorate your home, than in spring. While it is probably the only time of the year when cleaning is a pleasure, why not take it one step further? A few simple additions can make your home look fresh and new. Try it!

During the summer months we clean because the kids (young and old alike) are constantly tracking dirt, mud, grass, and goodness knows what else into the house. Cleaning in these days is a chore and yet we still manage to bring out the patriotic colors and celebrate America in style. Goodness knows how with all the extra cleaning that is going on and the nearly double amounts of lemonade and iced tea being consumed daily. Still we manage to decorate and take great joy in doing so as if some right of passage has been achieved by our home decorating efforts.

During the Thanksgiving and winter months we clean house because we have no choice. Friends and family will be coming over and they expect our homes to be well decorated and clean. This I must tell you is quite the accomplishment with the rush of the holidays afoot and yet somehow we manage to muster up some Christmas cheer when others are around while playing Mr. Scrooge when it comes to running the mop and the broom around our rooms.

Spring is the one time of year in which our cleaning efforts are nothing short of inspired. Yet it is also the spring that often eludes us when it comes to inspiration for decoration. Perhaps we are too tired from all of our cleaning efforts to seek the inspiration to decorate.

If this is the case with you, then my hope is that some of the ideas mentioned below will help bring some serious decoration inspiration your way.

1) Flowers.

Spring is the time of flowers. They are all around us. Use fresh cut flowers and candles to create beautiful arrangement and centerpieces throughout your home.

2) Candles.

While briefly mentioned above they deserve their own spot among the top five to say the least. Candles can be soothing, relaxing, invigorating, inspiring, beautiful, elegant, and simply smell good. Candles are great no matter what time of the year it is however, if you select candles in bright spring colors and fragrances you might be amazed at exactly how uplifting these candles can be.

3) Towels.

Yes I said towels. In your kitchen and your bathrooms you need bright, bold colors that signify spring, birth, and renewal. These little touches can make a huge difference in not only your attitude about cleaning and decorating but also your attitude about cooking.

4) Fragrance.

While most people do not realize that the fragrances we use in our homes is a type of decoration. It makes our noses happy to some degree but also the potpourri and candles are often decorations in and of themselves. Put out bowls filled with brightly colored and lightly scented fragrance balls, dried fruit, and other delights. Gourmet potpourri can be found in all kinds of gift and fragrance shops and is a rather inexpensive way to add a fragrant touch to your home decorating as well as the fragrance of your home.

5) Fruit.

Have bowls placed throughout your home filled with fresh fragrant fruit. Not only does this add yet another layer of fragrance to your home but it is also visually appealing and edible. There are three checks in the 'pro' column for this simple decorative step and I have yet to find one in the 'con' column unless you consider the fact that it must be eaten before it gets too ripe.

Use this lovely time of the year and the energy that goes with it to decorate your home. I hope that these few ideas on decorating your home has set you thinking and that you will have a lot of fun with decorations your home.

Enjoy your day,

Jacob

Tea light candle decoration ideas

Hi Everyone,

Here are some fun ideas for decorating with tea light candles:

Using Tea Light Candles As Decorations

Tea Light candles are most definitely not only meant for tea drinkers. They can be used in a wide variety of ways as decorations for parties or dinner. As we all know there is nothing that creates mood like candles and these little candles can be used in a variety of ways to enhance your party decorations. Candles lift the spirit and it has a calming effect on all. This is one of the reasons why using candles as part of your decorations is such a good idea. Tea light candles are cheap and can be bought in small to very large quantities; they can really help out when you need to decorate on a budget.

Small but useful as they are, you could get them at 1 to 2 inches in diameter and 1 to 1 and a half when it comes to height. They could be bought in packages ranging from a few pieces to a hundred. This gives you great options to choose from. You only have to think about all the places you want to place them and then you can decide on how many you need.

Benefits of using tea light candles:

1. Tea light candles are these tiny works of candle artistry that you may want to have in your own chosen places for they are surely going to turn the mood for serenity, romance, and relaxation. Because they are small and cheap you can really use them extensively in your party decorations.

2. Tea light candles are really great add-ons to your dinner table or anywhere in your dining room. A very good idea for a simple table decoration is to float these little candles and small flowers in a pretty bowl instead of the normal floral centerpieces. One important thing to keep in mind when deciding on your tea light candles, for your dinner table decorations, is to make sure you do not get scented ones. Whilst scented tea candles are great in other areas, at the dinner table they will interfere with the flavors and smells of your delicious food. For the dinner table it is best to stick to unscented candles.

3. Tea light candles are small and they last for a long period of time. They are affordable and are very practical. They could be really “in” for any special occasions and even for very ordinary days. If there is an occasion and you want to gather your visitors on your patio, you can place tea light candles around as you savor every moment shared with family and friends

4. These little candles can also give you joy and relaxation on an ordinary day. When you soak yourself in a bath tub, you can place these candles around to soothe your mood and to help you relax. This is the one option where scented candles are ideal. Choose scented candles with soothing and relaxing flavors such as lavender, vanilla and chamomile.

Never look down on the tiny tea light candle again. Its uses are unlimited and with a little imagination you can create magical decorations with these little candles.

Enjoy your day,
Jacob

Easter Flowers

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my blog. Please post your ideas and comments so we can all learn from each other.

Using fresh flowers as part of your Easter decorations is a very good idea. Here are some ideas of what you can do with these flowers after Easter.

Decorations for Easter: Fresh Flowers.

What to do with your Easter Flowers after Easter

We all love receiving flowers at Easter. Fresh flower arrangements look so pretty in crystal vases. To preserve the lovely Easter memories, you can do a few things with the flowers that you received to ensure that you’ll be able to enjoy them for years to come.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Air drying

Flowers for air drying should not be fully open when you start the process. Discovering which flowers dry the best will take trial and error. Out of the arrangements I’ve had, baby’s breath, daisies, roses, and carnations look well as dried flowers. Secure them at the end of the stems with a rubber band. Create a hook out of a paper clip and poke it through the rubber band. Hang the flower bunches on a piece of lattice work or the rungs of a plant stand wherever the sun hits your home. It will take several weeks for the flowers to completely dry. When the flowers feel crisp to the touch, they are ready.

2. Pressed flowers

Pressed flowers can be used to make beautiful bookmarks or lovely personalized greeting cards. Flowers used for pressing should be healthy and not fully opened where it has begun to lose its petals. You want the flowers to hold together. You can press flowers in books. Make sure to arrange the flower the way that you want it to look after pressing. If this will be a regular hobby for you, dedicate a few books that you won’t need. Place the flower between two sheets of paper such as onion skin and then in the book. Once the flower has been pressed, put other books on top to weigh it down. Pressing takes about as long as air drying.

3. Replanting flowers

If you received a potted plant it may be possible to replant it. Read the label information that comes with your plant. Indoor plants should be repotted in a bigger pot before they become root-bound. For outdoor plants, spring is a good time for planting. Use topsoil that is rich in nutrients. Be careful not to upset the root ball when you remove the plant from its original container. Keep the plant watered constantly as it incorporated itself into the soil. Perennial plants are the only ones that should be replanted. They will return every year and add color to your garden.

Make the most of your flower arrangements. There are many ways to preserve your flowers to be used over and over again.

Your Easter decorations will most definitely include flowers. Plan on using flowers that can be preserved and in doing so you’ll get so much more use out of your beautiful flowers. Flowers are not cheap these days and if they can be preserved in some way, so much the better.

Enjoy your Easter Decorations.
